Based on Joyce Epstein’s Six Types of Parental Involvement, what resources or activities do you use to collaborate with your school’s community.  What ways can parents and students serve their community through school activities?

 

**TYPE 6–COLLABORATING WITH THE COMMUNITY: Coordinate resources and services for families, students, and the school with businesses, agencies, and other groups, and provide services to the community.

– make Christmas cards for soldiers and local nursing homes.

– invite local agencies to Open House/Back to School Night.  They give information to parents and families about resources they can provide and often bring little freebies to pass out.
